Japan Chronicles 1 – Arrival in Japan (May 18, 2013)

May 18, 2013 marked the first day of my epic tour in Japan with my parents and my brother. No words can express how grateful I am for this trip with my parents. Of all places, it just had to be Japan, one of the places that is closest to my heart having had an exchange program about 6 years ago. I’m recommending a tour if you want to go to different regions in the country to save some effort as the tours in Japan are quite optimal anyway. Surely, there will be some places you’ll want to see more of so I recommend you to extend or maximize the free day if there is any allotted. I will be chronicling our experience in various entries and summarize everything in the end. I hope you enjoy reading as I have enjoyed experiencing and writing them.

???????????????????????????????

We arrived before lunch in NAIA Terminal 2. It’s just a small strip of waiting area by the gates. If you want to grab a bite, you can opt to eat inside but the choices are limited. If I am not mistaken, there are local stores inside offering food and Cafe France for those who want variety. I suggest you go early so you can find yourself a seat because the seats are limited as well. For about an hour, the others who just arrived had to stand up before the gates opened. Since there were many people using the wifi at the same time, the connection kept getting interrupted too. I’m just thankful that the ventilation was bearable for the multitude of people in the terminal.

After about four hours when our tour guide picked us up from Kansai International Airport in Osaka, we headed straight to our first hotel, Bellevue Garden Hotel. Away from the city, we didn’t expect much people walking around in the cold at around 10PM (Japan time). Since we still had the energy in day 1, we decided to walk around.

My brother wanted to wear his blazer so he maximized the opportunity before we headed out. So maybe I should have gotten something thicker because it was cold.

We didn’t see much but this convenience store, called K. We looked around to see what they had to offer. After a few minutes, we had nowhere to go but back to the hotel.
