Chatuchak is Bangkok’s largest famous weekend market where various items and services are sold from clothes, shoes, bags, plants, food, massage, etc. It’s a great place to bargain but be clever enough to check the quality of your purchases as it may be impossible to go back especially if you don’t have enough time to spare.
The huge shopping area may get overwhelming so I suggest you familiarize yourself with the layout, target specific areas and go to those areas first. Maps are available online and in information areas in Chatuchak. Mind you, it can get hot and humid while shopping so better wear comfy attire.
I had an amazing time shopping in Chatuchak last Aug 16, 2015. Last time I went there was four years ago where I traveled with my friend Gadis whom I met in an exchange program. I didn’t have that much shopping money then so I made sure I had enough this time to enjoy. Unfortunately, I was alone and I couldn’t share the joy to anyone at that time. I’m definitely going back!
I shopped until I dropped! I was there for 4-5 hours with one break time for lunch and another one for a good drink. I went to every nook and cranny I could go to until my arms could no longer carry more and my legs could not take me farther. I definitely went back to the hostel exhausted but happy.

How to go to Chatuchak:
You may access Chatuchak from either the BTS or MRT.
- If you plan to take the BTS, alight at Mo Chit Station.
- If you plan to take the MRT, alight in Kamphaeng Phet (not in Chatuchak Park Station).
