Yoshinoya Beef

  • 300g thinly sliced beef (chuck or ribeye)
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dashi
  • 1 tbsp sake or rice wine
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce


  1. Heat pan over medium-high heat. Add dashi, sake, sugar, mirin and soy sauce. Mix to combine. Cover with lid and boil sauce.
  2. Add onions and spread them out. Cover to cook until tender.
  3. Add beef and cook until there is no more pink on the beef. Skim off foam or fat with fine mesh sieve.
